Reform!

Taxes! Taxes! Taxes!

Yes. Yes, I know that taxes are needed. Needed to pave our roads, pay our teachers, police officers, and firefighters. Needed to bail out AIG, pay illegal immigrants fair share, and give food stamps, disability and health care to those who do not want to work (make sure you understand...that I stated "those who do not want to work"). Of course! But enough is enough.

I am tired of taxes. Owning a small business and having to give 15% social security (which I will never see my portion) and 15% income AND 8.25% sales tax is crazy!

The more you make the more you pay. It is more like "the more you make the more you pay to benefit others."

I have been preaching to my economic students for years that it is time to reform our current tax system. My suggestion a higher sales tax. So do away with income tax and go to a straight sales tax. Fair. Simple. And easy to understand!

(is it too late to make fake social security numbers for my Henry & Sara...I could use them as dependents)

Happy Tax Day.

Limited Edition Spring Portraits

I had planned on using a beautiful baby lamb for the Limited Edition Spring Portraits, unfortunately the little lamb was not thinking what I was thinking.

We had three baby ducks and a rabbit on back-up.

What a fun day. The animals were excellent! They were such troopers.

Thank you Amber for all your help and for loaning Eden.

Opening Day

Today, I spent the evening with my wonderful husband at Opening Day. Josh and I have only missed one opening day since we have been together.

*Astros vs. Cubs (Astros lost)

It felt good to get away.

{I did take the laptop and edited pictures in the backseat on the way to Houston.}

I Can't Keep Up

Home phone. Cell phone. Texting. Desktop. Laptop. Internet. Website. Blog. Myspace. Email.

And Josh ask...what about Facebook. "Do you have a Facebook? You need a Facebook." "What is Twitter?" "Do you Twitter?"

I can't keep up. I cannot help but think that technology has made society more complex, hectic and hard to manage.

Every Monday morning Mr. Catchings ask a simple question and I give a simple reply. "How was your weekend?" "Busy."

Busy.

Why I have to change my life:

My grandfather lives not even a mile down the road and the last time I saw him was March 18th. And the time before that January 24th.

I pass the road my mother and father live on twice a day and I rarely stop.

I miss my friend Regina. We used to talk several times a week. Now maybe once every couple of weeks.

I miss my friend Mandi. We talk on occasions--but it is always on the go. In the car on the way home. We used to go to dinner at least once every other week.

We used to go to dinner every Friday night with my sister/brother-in-law, nephew and niece. Now my niece wonders who I am. Last weekend Kade could not remember my name.

My husband wishes to be a computer, the cat or a phone. He said that way he could at least spend time with me.

I am a people pleaser. I have a hard time telling people no. But after a long exhausting week, I thought to myself that I am cheating the ones I love to satisfy strangers.

My priorities must change.

Today. We have 24 hours.
